Recruitment in BSF is done at three levels .i. e. Constables,Sub Inspectors and Assistant Commandant who undergo structures basic training which includes subjects like physical training, drill,weapon training,map reading, law, border management,human rights etc.This training mould young Trainees into'PRAHARIS' who are professionally competent and adequately tempered to withstand the rigors of duty.
Training in BSF is an ongoing process. There is training and courses for the borders man in each level to groom up him/her and make them professionally sound and mentally robots.Courses are conducted at premier BSF training Institution for specialization in different fields.These training inputs are further strengthened and tested during collective training of units/sub units, workshops, seminars and tactical exercises which are organized regularly. A state of the art Subsidiary Training Center (STC) has been established to meet the current and futuristic training needs of BSF in Jammu frontier that is located at Udhampur.The Subsidiary Training Center is responsible for imparting basic training to recruits besides running various courses and cadres.Each year hundreds of recruits pass out from this training

center and joins the units in different parts of the country for their service to the nation. Each frontier runs different courses and cadres on frontier level to give more sound knowledge and experience to its man power so that they may be perfect in all fields and do their duties more comfortably. Unit also runs different cadres on its own level. There is collective training once in a year for the all persons working in the units. In the collective training

1. Hindi course - BSF comprising of men drawn from all the states, speaking different languages with diverse cultural backgrounds. There are many person comes from south India and north east. They are professionally not sound in Hindi. So Hindi course is run by the frontier to impart them the knowledge of Hindi so that they may perform well in every duty that has been given to them.
