Welfare Activities in Jammu Frontier:-

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

                        Jammu  Frontier  undertakes a large number of welfare activities to ameliorate  the sufferings of  its        personnel and their family members.

      1.         Senior Secondary School :- BSF School Jammu was started as a primary school in 1972 with a total                   strength of 49 students and 7 teachers. In June 1976 the school was reorganized as residential                   Institution, upgraded to the secondary level and got affiliated with CBSE New Delhi. In 1982 this                   school became a full fledged senior secondary school with science at plus two levels. Commerce and                   Arts stream were also added at plus two level in the subsequent years. BSF senior secondary school                   Jammu is situated in the Ftr HQ BSF, Paloura camp, Jammu. It caters the academic requirement of                   BSF personnel of J&K and Himanchal Pradesh including some students from the different Battalions                   located in other Eastern and Western frontiers. There are 1802 students in Secondary section.
                       
Boarding facility is also available in this school.
                 
Admission:-
                             Admission of the students as day scholar from class 1st to class 9th and 11th class is made after                  giving suitability test against existing vacancies up to 30th June. The last date of receipt of application for                  admission is 25th of June. However suitability test is not given to a student of a BSF school for                  admission in any class.
                               i)           Admission on transfer from a BSF School
                               j)          Admission in exceptionally deserving cases on a reference to FHQ made by the                                            concerned principal with full justifications.
                  Admission for Non BSF is subject to availability of seat and after conducting the suitability test.

For Hostel Students
There is an open written test for sons of BSF personnel in
class VI as borders. The written test is conducted by FHQ usually in the first week of May every year. This test is compulsory for those who want to avail hostel facilities on free ship/ half free ship.

The written Test is conducted for the following subject.
        English
        Mathematics
        Hindi
        General Knowledge and mental ability

The written test is conducted in the following stations.
       Jammu
       Jallandhar
       Tekanpur
       Shillong
       Sri Ganganagar
       Kadamtala

Before the test is conducted coaching classes on full payment/ half payment and free ship as the case may be are organized for a period of one month at the above locations in the above subjects.              
    

 

                How to Apply
                            Willing and eligible candidates may apply on the prescribed performa in duplicate supported by                  all required certificates latest by
31st March every year. Original copy with all certificates should be                  addressed to the Principal of the school where the parents wants put his ward for coaching and copy to                  FHQ.

     2.         Family Welfare Center :-    There is one welfare center in Frontier HQ.The centre  supplements                   the  income of  the families of  BSF personnel and  also  impart vocational  training. The vocational                    training helps  the BSF  family even  after retirement. The welfare centre fabricate  uniforms  for other                   sister organizations.


      3.         BWWA Gas Agency :-        
There is one BSF War Widow Association (BWWA) Gas Agency. that                   gives the connection of Gas to the BSF  personnel who have been newly posted in the frontier HQ. It                   helps the BSF personnel and  their families as they don't need  to go to outside for  the gas connection.                   It is run by the welfare center Jammu Ftr..


      4.         CSD Canteen :-                  
 There is one CSD canteen  within  the campus for  the BSF  personnels                   and their families. items may be purchased in a  lower rate form this canteen. All the daily  needs items                   are available here in cheaper price.


      5.         BSF Band :-                       
 There is a team of BSF Band in the Jammu frontier. The Band team does                   their practice in Ftr HQ BSF Jammu, the whole year. They show their performance in any inaugural                   ceremony, sports meet, raising Day, Passing out Parade of the recruits, any local function, police meet                   and any other ceremonial function either it is BSF function or Civil function. They have won number of                   trophies and medals, and won the heart of local people by their performance. The team has earned                   name and fame for the Jammu frontier in local level. They have been called in every function either it is                   Govt. or Civil.
                  The BSF Band team in Jammu Frontier is specialized in two departments
                    
 a.       Jazz Band
                     b.       
Brass Band

                  BSF Band may be called on any function, by the Civilian and BSF Personnel outside the campus or                   within the campus. But there are some charges for this service provided by the BSF.                   

      6.         Gymnasium :-                     There is one gymnasium hall in the campus of Ftr HQ BSF Jammu. That                   is equipped with all latest equipments and technologies. The Gymnasium hall was established in 13 April                  1992 and inaugurated by Sh. T Anantacharya IPS. It was again renovated with new equipments            


      
7.         Cable Connection:--            Cable connection facility is there within the campus of Frontier HQ BSF                   Jammu.


      
10.         Family Quarters. :             Jammu Frontier has number. of family quarters in the Ftr HQ paloura                   camp Jammu. BSF personnels that are serving in the high altitude area or performing their duties in the                   CI  role have kept their family in the family quarter alloted to them in the Ftr HQ. From where they                     may continue the study of their childrens in BSF school or center school. Family quarters provides the                   complete security and facilities. 24 hour water supply is there in family quarters.

2)          SFA Quarters (Separate Family Accommodation):-   There are total 635 SFA quarters in                Frontier HQ Jammu. SFA Quarters are allotted to the persons who are posted to the units in                remote areas. It is the facility to the BSF personnel so that they can keep their family at SFA               quarter in Jammu while they are working in the remote sites.
